Wine
d'Arenberg The Noble Botryotinia Fuckeliana is typically 95% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. It takes its name from the scientific name for Botrytis, which honours the German botanist Karl Fuckel.
It is made from Adelaide Hills fruit affected with Botrytis cinerea or Noble Rot. The disease weakens the grape skins, causing water to evaporate from the fruit leaving very sweet, concentrated grapes behind.
The shrivelled fruit is basket pressed before a long fermentation. The wine matures predominantly in tank, with a small portion aged in seasoned French oak. The resultant wine is luscious, rich and viscous.
Golden yellow, d'Arenberg The Noble Botryotinia Fuckeliana has intense sweet fruit flavours, sharp acidity and a clean, crisp finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
